This ByBa BAT begins with a dirt hole in Buenos Aires and reaches Aldo van Eyck’s playgrounds in Amsterdam to ask how much a space really needs in order to awaken play. It proposes seeing the creative city not as the one offering more activities, but as the one leaving more possibilities open.

This ByBa BAT questions a common scene: asking young children not to color outside the lines before they have explored the stroke. From Creative Family, it frames early drawing as action, discovery and possibility. First comes exploring, mixing, crossing and leaving a trace; later comes learning precision, control and limits.

This ByBa BAT invites us to see space as a silent educator of children’s creativity. Inspired by Danish culture and adventure playgrounds, it proposes offering fewer instructions and more possibilities: open materials, transformable corners, autonomy, small risks and spaces without a predefined answer where children can discover, build and invent.

In 1985, two Dublin boys turned an afternoon of play into a clandestine journey to New York. Their story is not an invitation to imitate the feat, but to recognise a lasting childhood impulse: to explore, be seen and enlarge the world. Tools change, yet imagination still needs freedom, play, shared time and experiences capable of becoming truly lasting memories.
